
The solar energy to produce cold
Our direct solar refrigeration systems are equiped with an exclusive device, the Ecotainer, to provide a complete autonomy.
The only energy consumed is solar energy through a photovoltaic module: we have decided to use this energy to power directly, without any intermediary, the compressor. The electronic control unit, allows the refrigeration unit to be operational even if sunlight is limited.
An optimized system to create and maintain the cold
When the sun appears, even for a few minutes, the system produces cold to freeze an eutectic mass held in the FREECOLD Ecotainer and set in the heart of the evaporator.
To mitigate the period of sunshine, the Ecotainer diffuses the cold during the night and no-sunny days and ensures a complete autonomy over 3 to 5 days. With a regular period of sunshine, our system thus allows a permanent cooling.
FREECOLD refrigerators and freezers have a higher quality insulation to limit the losses of cold and reach the EU class A++ (polyurethane foam thickness of 90mm in the side walls and 80mm in the lid) and an aluminum inner lining for a better distribution of cold in the cabinet. The eutectic tank, the evaporator box and its insulating careenage have been developed and patented specifically to optimize the sharing of the cold.
The energy flexibility
The solar module can be placed outside (on the terrace or a roof) and the refrigerator inside the building. The distance may be about 4 to 6 m without any problem except the section of the electrical cables between the PV module and the refrigerator to be adjusted.
It is possible with some changes to the system architecture to have a hybrid system and to power the refrigerator on solar panel, 12/24 Volt DC battery or 100-240 Volt AC grid.
In normal operation, the refrigeration unit is sized to both cool the food contained in the refrigerator (and thus allow normal use, domestic or commercial type hotels or local shops), and freeze in 4-5 days, the eutectic tank.
The freezer in direct solar use, is intended to function as conserver of frozen food.
A simple maintenance - a virtually unlimited life span
All components we used have lifetimes exceeding 15 years.
There is no costly maintenance, no battery to change. The FREECOLD appliances need only a regular cleaning and a dust removal of the photovoltaic panel: its frequency will depend on the conditions of operation. Our system can be considered "100% maintenance-free".
